With over twenty (20) years of general business/ corporate and contract law and real estate experience, Mr. Marx’s practice has over the past several years been primarily devoted to the assistance of corporate and business real estate investors, lenders, owners, developers, contractors and other users with their real estate, corporate, contract, commercial law, litigation and estate planning/ business succession needs.  His practice areas include assisting clients with a wide variety of their corporate contracting, general business and personal needs from business organization, capitalization, real estate acquisition, financing, construction, management and leasing, to the ultimate disposition of assets.   His practice includes assisting businesses preserve and build upon their intellectual assets, including confidentially and copyright and related matters.   He also assists clients with their business and personal financial and related estate planning needs.



Mr. Marx has a certified public accountant (CPA) background and nearly ten (10) years of hands on complex commercial law and real estate litigation experience before the federal and state courts of Texas and other jurisdictions.


Representative clients include financial entities, corporate and other business entities, land owners, developers, contractors, landlords and tenants of commercial properties, including multi-family and commercial real estate development companies.  Commercial projects vary from apartment complexes, regional retail malls, Walmart or similarly anchored developments, office buildings and commercial warehouses.


After graduating from the University of North Dakota (UND) with a major in accounting (1982), Mr. Marx practiced in Dallas as a Certified Public Accountant for a regional tax and audit accounting firm (1982-1984).  With a view toward putting himself in a position to serve the broader needs of his clients, Mr. Marx then went on to law school, graduating from Baylor Law School in 1987.


He practiced law first as an associate litigation attorney for a boutique complex commercial litigation law firm here in Dallas (1987-1992), with a focus on general business law, real estate development and lending, creditor’s rights, secured transactions, borrower/lender, and general contract disputes, as well business torts and related federal law matters including securities laws, RICO and antitrust violations.

As time progressed and the regional and national real estate economy recovered from the savings and loan crisis then existing, Mr. Marx was called upon to assist his corporate, real estate and other business clients with a wide variety of their transactional, proprietary, estate planning and general business law needs; and when necessary their substantial litigation needs.  Throughout his practice, when needed Mr. Marx has either directly handled or quarterbacked the commercial litigation matters for and on behalf of his business and personal clients. 


His is now primarily a corporate or other business entity commercial law/ transactional practice; but he remains active in all phases of the negotiation, litigation, and or workout matters for his business clients.  Throughout these past fifteen-plus years of his professional practice Mr. Marx has always done so in either a small firm or solo practitioner environment, being of the belief that this is the most efficient  and mutually rewarding setting for both the attorney and the clients he is personally focused on serving.

Interests:  Mr. Marx has two children, Will and Emma, who attend high school and elementary schools in east Dallas and the Lake Highlands neighborhood where they live.  His interests include reading, running and cycling.  He aspires to become a better sailor.
